Lower back pain formula - Dr Tan Balance Method Acupuncture - Szenan Phua

Hi Everyone,

This is Szenan Phua from New Zealand.
Today i would like to share Dr Tan Balance Method Acupuncture Lower back pain Formula.

Lower back pain on Du, UB and GB.
You could always needle Ling Gu, Li3, Th 3, SI 3.
Ling gu and Li 3 could balance UB ( though S7),  SI3 (though S1) also balance UB and Du, TH3 could balance GB (though S1).

If any pain right across lower back, this means it involve with Dai Mai, Which i normally will add GB41.

Most of the time Dai Mai issue will present as pain right across lower back, but sometimes Dai Mai issue does not go across lower back, it actually present on Du or GB or UB, I am talking about fix pain on Du or GB or UB. So how do you know the pain is from Dai Mai and not from Du, GB or UB?

To be honest, I don’t know, i could not tell other than the pain across lower back. In my experience, if you needle lower back pain formula and patient still saying that some pain in lower back either in UB, GB or Du, then you could just go ahead and needle GB41 to try it out, if your patient response to GB41 then that means Dai Mai issue involve too.

Which side to needle?
Normally, opposite side. Right lower back pain, needle left side. Left lower back pain, needle right side. If both side of lower back pain, then needle right side for female and left side for male. But i do have to say that in some cases opposite side does not work well or no response at all, then you take out the needle and needle the other side (same side), then that should works. :)
